i've never really been into dolls. i was that little girl that insisted on having toy cars instead of dolls, and i broke my mothers heart when i wanted to be a ninja turtle for halloween instead of a princess.
I've been unemployed for about a year now (hoping to hear from a job this week) and i've had a lot of time to watch youtube videos and play around online. a couple of weeks ago a came across some art dolls, and spent two days looking at art dolls online. For those of you that make things, you'll understand what i mean when i say that my head was dizzy with inspiration. i looked at my husband and said, "i'm going to be a doll maker." i dont know if anybody will ever buy my dolls, and its almost impossible to think that i could ever make a living off of my art, but i cant help but dream of it.
so i sat down to create my first doll. i dont have access to a kiln, and paper pulp clay is too difficult to work with in detail,so i picked up a bucket of crayola air dry clay. this is my first doll, and i am really happy with the way it turned out. i feel like i have a natural talent for it, and i'm going to make many more....selling them or not.
